admindanwI get a lot of theme errors when I run an accessibility checker on my website. I am getting heading errors in particular to the H1 heading, either saying that H1 is not in the main content area. But when I add it, then it complains about I should have only one and it is in the title.
Other theme errors include not having Skip nav links, missing lang attr part, fieldset without legend, etc.
Am I missing something obvious?

We have contacted the theme author regarding this issue. The issue will get fixed probably on the next update of this theme.

admindanwI also see where the error report is saying a theme error where the following occurs:
image does not have alt-text.
unlabeled landmarks
multiple ways failure
I’m hoping that this theme can eb made fully 508 accessible. Otherwise we will have to find a different theme.

Please update the theme to its latest version. These issues have been fixed in version 2.1.1 but since this version update has updated JS and CSS. You will need to clear the cache and refresh the browser for the change to work correctly.

admindanwI have upgraded but I am still getting accessibility errors related to the theme.Here is what I see.
empty button tag – An empty button was encountered. If a button contains no text, the function or purpose of the button will not be presented to the user. This can introduce confusion for keyboard and screen reader users. Switch to the Text view to locate and remove the empty tag or add an aria-label or title attribute with descriptive text. If the button includes an image that is missing alternate text, use the edit image option to add alt text to the image. WCAG 2.1 (Level A) – 1.1.1 opens in a new window HELP

= We checked your site and found that you have been using the h1 tag for the title inside the content area as well so, to solve this you can just use a different tag for it. please go through the image below for more details.

admindanwThe problem is when I change the heading in the body to h2 then I get an error saying I don’t have an h1 tag.

We checked it and found that there is indeed an h1 tag as you can see on the video below also there are still multiple h1 tags you have been using on the page. please change it to h2 tags.

admindanwI know that most of the pages aren’t correct yet. I’m just starting out. If you look at the page “Help Us Fund A New Trail”, you will see the errors that I am referring to. I want to get this page correct first before moving to the others. There is also an Accessibility report for each page as well as on the dashboard which shows the errors. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to paste a snapshot showing you the problem.

So, one way to fix these issues is to edit the theme file. you can please watch the video below on which theme file to edit since we do not have access to your theme. so I request you follow the steps I did in the video.

admindanwThank you for this. I am slowly moving forward. There may be more questions about this topic as I continue. Question, will I need to go in and make thee changes to the php files whenever there is an update to the theme?
