The link that you have posted is of the documentation of the pro version and the option to set the slider using post, images, category is only available in the pro version of the theme but not in the free version.

The free version only has the option to set the slider using the pages as you have mentioned.

So if you want to add the additional option for setting the slider then you can always consider buying the pro version.

I have followed your guide but when i want to select slider type, my only option is ‘Featured pages’ i don’t see any other options on the drop down..

To box will adjust its height according to the length of the title . Since your title is not uniform the box appears of different sizes . However to manage the box height according to your feature section set up please use below given CSS.

For this go to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and paste below given CSS.

.features-list span {
    margin: -23px auto 0;
    }

Also the tile looks messy because you have include the HTML content in the title of the post . In order to avoid such issue please include the plane text without HTML content so that you wont get such kind of issue .
